Overlays A transparent plan page over another plan page intended for bearing point alignment, often in a darker or lighter shade along with what lies underneath, called "base plan page" are one of the most powerful features in PlanTek PlanTek is a fully paperless plan management software developed specifically for designers, and integrates with MiTek's eFrame software.. Many times you may need to locate bearing walls, and line up points between different levels of the house. You can simply lay one page on top of another, and then align them. Note, you can overlay an image on top of itself if necessary (example: if a single page has multiple levels of the building).

First open the base page. Typically this would be a floor plan.
Click New from
the Overlays window.
The Overlay Dialog Opens.

Type in the Description for the overlay.
Choose Overlay Color
Select the overlay page.
Click OK
The overlay is now placed on top of base image, but needs to be aligned.

Now Align the overlay using the dual align method.
Select Dual Align from the Overlays window
Click on corner of overlay and then click the same corner on the base page.
Now select a corner on the overlay opposite the side previously chosen, then click the matching corner on the base image.
The overlay should now be aligned. Any discrepancies
in the plans can be detected.

This process can be repeated creating any overlay you may need.
You can hide or show the overlay by selecting
or unselecting the checkbox.
